Review; The Potrait of a Lady Analysis

Gambar
The poem 'Potrait of a Lady' by T.S Elliot is a wonderful piece of story. The story has perfect plot that could tell the story amazingly. The initial situation, conflict, climax, suspense, denouement, and conclusion, are arranged neatly and beautifully. So, this poetry could attract me to read it and make me easy to understand the order of event, even though I actually get some troubles when I try to figure out the deep meaning of story. But, it does not the matter because I think it is a big challenge for me. In other word, I could successfully find the deep meaning according to my own perception. The story is divided into three chapters with putting the time of month for each chapter. That is functioned to describe about the time of every event in plot. By: Rizal Saryadi  Memory (Lloyd Weber) Midnight, not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory She is smiling alone. In the lamplight the whithered leaves collect at my feet And the wind begins to moan. Memory All alone in the moonlight I can smile like the old days I was beautiful then   I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again Every street lamp seems to beat A fatalistic warning Someone mutters and the street lamp gutters And soon it will be morning Daylight I must wait for the sunrise I must think for the new life And I mustn't give in When the dawn comes Tonight will be a memory too And the new day will begin Burnt out ends of smoky days The stale cold smell of morning The street lamp dies another night is over Another day is dawning Touch me ! It's so easy to leave me All alone with my memory Of my days in the sun If you touch me you'll understand what happiness is Look, a new day
